Getting Licensed
You cannot sell insurance or get contracted without a state license. This is Step 1 β do it before everything else.
π― What License Do You Need?
For health and life insurance, you need a Life & Health (L&H) license in your resident state. You can add non-resident licenses later to sell in other states.

Choose Your Pre-Licensing CourseMost states require 20β40 hours of pre-licensing education. Use Kaplan, ExamFX, or America's Professor β all are available online and self-paced. Shoot for finishing within 1β2 weeks.

Study for the State ExamFocus on: types of insurance, policy provisions, state regulations, and ethics. Use the practice exams in your course β aim for 80%+ on practice tests before booking the real exam.

Schedule & Pass Your ExamBook through Pearson VUE or PSI Exams (check your state). Exam fee is typically $40β$150. Passing score is usually 70%. You can retake if needed β most people pass on 1st or 2nd attempt.

Apply for Your LicenseApply through your state's DOI (Department of Insurance) β most use NIPR.com. You'll need: exam passing certificate, application fee ($30β$200), and sometimes a background check. License is usually issued in 3β10 business days.

Tell Faith You're Licensed!Once your license number is issued, reach out immediately β you can start carrier contracting that same day.
π Adding Non-Resident Licenses
Faith Insurance Solutions is licensed in 40+ states. Once you have your resident license, you can add non-resident licenses to expand your market β this takes 1β3 days per state and costs $20β$100 per state.
π‘ When to Add Non-Resident Licenses
Start with your resident state. After your first 30 days, talk to Faith about which additional states make sense based on your lead sources. ACA/Marketplace leads often come from multiple states β you'll want to be licensed wherever you're getting leads.

Carrier Contracting
You must be contracted (appointed) with each carrier before you can sell their products. Start with the highest-priority carriers first β contracting takes 5β10 business days per carrier.

Week 3 β First CallsStart working leads with Faith's coaching. Goal: 20 dials per day minimum. Log every contact in Atlas CRM. Focus on completing the Needs Analysis β don't worry about closing yet. Just get comfortable on the phone.

Week 4 β First PolicyGoal: write your first policy. Review your call recordings. Identify your top 3 objections and practice the rebuttals. Set up your first follow-up pipeline in CRM.

Build Your Daily RoutineEstablish a set call block β morning is best. 20β30 dials minimum per day. Review yesterday's pipeline before starting. End every day by updating CRM and scheduling your next-day follow-ups.

Identify Lead SourcesTalk to Faith about which lead programs are available to you. Consider: Facebook groups, referrals, Chamber of Commerce, senior centers. Which source is producing the most conversations?

Track Your NumbersKnow your: dials per day, contact rate, quote rate, close rate. Improving these metrics by small percentages each week compounds into major income growth.

Add Non-Resident LicensesIf your leads are coming from multiple states, talk to Faith about which non-resident licenses to add. This expands your market significantly.

Build Your Referral SystemEvery client you've written is a referral source. Call each client 30 days post-enrollment to check in. Ask: "Is there anyone you know who might benefit from a similar review?" Most won't say yes immediately β but they'll remember you when someone asks.

Review & ResetMeet with Faith at the 90-day mark. Review your numbers. What's working? What's not? Set your 90-day targets for the next quarter. The agents who win long-term are the ones who consistently analyze and adjust.
